This project is about choosing a piece of music, and creating a new type 

of musical notation to express and communicate the various rhythms, 

sounds, tones and emotions found within the chosen piece.

The Metamorphosis of Memories

City Project

In this project I began experimenting with architectural structures 

in an attempt to represent what happens when cultures collide.

My interest lies with architectural similarities as well as differences, 

be it in traditional or contemporary forms. This got me curious about

how they relate to one another out of context. As a traveller, landmark

buildings can always remind you of the time spent in a certain city, the 

culture that you've experienced and the people you've met along the way.

At the beginning I was thinking how can I store my architectural memories 
of Glasgow city. Since I came to study in this country, the architectures are 
the most things I can remember. 


And then I started to ask myself what would it be if memories mixed? Then 
I made this graphic below:
Beijing x Glasgow.

After then, I added more architectural graphic into my memory map, The
places I've been to, the buildings that fascinated me. Berlin, Barcelona,

Madrid, Seville, Paris, Hongkong, Beijing, Shanghai..etc.

I found there are many similarities between these architecture around the 
world. I think the mixture is very interesting, themselves creates a whole 
new figure of pattern.

Our memories of these architectural combinations often become distorted 

over time. My final pieces represent this metamorphosis.

I created more pattern and developed them into textile patterns. More

complex patterns are made.  These pattern can be used in Textile, gift 

cards, post cards, souvenir products. 

I have a chance to experience how to make a shirt in this project. For displaying

these patterns on a better platform, I made a kimono shirt. I intent to invite my 

viewers to imagine if them can have their own architectural memories printed on

a shirt. Here is the kimono shirt that I made : )
