Project { The 5 Objects }

This is a project I worked on during my postgraduate course last year. I have worked on this project for about 11months, from the beginning of the term till the end. During developing this project I have been to North Europe for a little break without doing any work. I experienced sad, pain, struggle when I was doing this project, there are many times I want to stop pushing myself to finish this project, but finally I worked through. I never said this is a finished project, it has so many possibilities to develop. It is more like a journal, like a medicine that recorded what I have been through and helped me release my hidden innermost emotion from heart.

The 5 Objects}

I am interested in how people attach themselves to objects and how does visuals recall memories, and how memories are stored? How does the unconscious work though visual? It is a self-analysis of the feeling of ‘loss’, the content is personal but the approach is very professional. As a designer, I am learning how to handle difficult or complex contents into more comprehensible formats.

I’m very inspired and trying to attach five senses to initiate the drama of memories. Visiting memories using five different object: Perfume (for smell), chewing gum (for taste), torn pictures (for visual), music (for audio) and torn clothes (for tactile sensation).

For 5 Objects project, all these different attributes are attached to the book.
To enter from the public identity to more personal identity, the viewer has to tear open the pages, by cutting fore-edges, to reveal innermost and true secrets about my personality. This adds a different dimension to the book. A paper-cutting knife is being provided at the beginning of the book.

Visual content comes from all sorts of resources like my boarding passes, maps, movie tickets, pictures of objects, personal photographs and diaries that are relevant to this project.

This project really helped me personally and proved to be an inspiration point in moving forward in life, with much determination and courage. The secret baggage that I was holding to, got revealed, making me feel lighter and transparent.
